The Comparative Law Institute of the College and the Legal History Center of the Law School co-organized a seminar on the October Revolution and the Soviet Law on Xueyuanlu Campus on the evening of 8 Nov, 2017. This seminar was also the fifth one of the Comparative Law Lecture Series held by the College of Comparative Law.
The Director of the Legal History Center Prof. Cui Linlin moderated the meeting. The Director of the Comparative Law Institute Prof. Wang Zhihua was the keynote speaker, A/Prof. Guo Chen from the Legal History Center and the Director of the Sino-German Institute of Law Prof. Xie Libin were the commentators. Over 50 participants including teaching faculty Li Xiaohui, Sun Haibo, Zhu Mingzhe, Yuanjie, Xie Jing and students attended the meeting.
Prof. Wamg Zhjhua mainly talked about the process and the causes of the October Revolution and the general picture of Soviet law. He then analyzed the foundation of Soviet law, introducing the establishment and development of the laws. He emphasized that although the communist Soviet failed, the revolution and laws made certain achievements. Both of them are still meaningful to study and learn when we focus on the issues in the world and China today.
