CCL signs MOU with Canterbury Law

Executive Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Canterbury Prof. Petra Butler and Senior Counsel of the RayYin & Partners Law Firm Mr. Liao Ming visited the College on the afternoon of 10 May, 2024.



Dean of the College Xie Zhiyong received the visiting delegation on Haidian Campus. Associate Dean of the College Liu Chengwei, Chairman of the College Academic Committee Fei Anling, Director of the China-America Law Institute of the College Feng Kai, Deputy Director of the China-America Law Institute of the College He Qihao and Deputy Director of the College Administrative Office Li Li attended the meeting.


Xie first extended a warm welcome to Dean Butler on behalf of the college. He introduced the development and characteristics of the college, and said that the training of foreign-related legal talents is the focus of the college's work to respond to the needs of the country, and that he looked forward to establishing an exchange platform with New Zealand universities to carry out multi-dimensional cooperation.


Butler said her very first visit to CUPL was 20 years ago when she taught at the university and it left her a great impression. As the new dean of Canterbury Law, she looked forward to creating the university's first postgraduate-level international cooperation programme and cooperating with the College of Comparative Law in student exchange, teacher exchange and all other aspects.


Liu introduced the scale of enrollment, the curriculum, the source of students, the characteristics of personnel training and the international exchange of faculty and students of the college.



Subsequently, the two sides discussed the possibility of cooperation in such areas as the postgraduate exchange programme, the joint doctoral candidate training programme, the China law summer programme, the internship programme and the visiting scholar programme, and reached an agreement. The two deans signed the cooperation memorandum of understanding on behalf of each school, making positive preparations for the next stage of implementation.
