Dean of the College Prof. Gao Xiang and A/Prof. Yuan Yi attended the First China-Russia Law School Deans Forum on invitation at the Heijiongjiang University on 3 Nov, 2017.
The forum was co-hosted by the China Legal Education Association, the Law School of Remin University of China and the Law School of Heijiongjiang University. 44 law professors from 28 universities from China and Russia attended the meeting.
Dean Gao Xiang introduced the College’s teaching and research on Russian law and the exchanges with Russian law schools. He pointed out that the China University of Political Science and Law, as the biggest comparative law research institution, has close contacts with the Soviet Union and Russia. The Honourary Dean of the College of Comparative Law Prof. Jiang Ping was graduated from Moscow University, and Prof. Huang Daoxiu was awarded the Friendship Medal by the President of Russia Mr. Medvedev for his extraordinary contribution on the China-Russia legal exchange. The College also consists of a Russian Law Research Center, admitting master and doctor candidates who will study Russian law. The center has translated and published a large number of works related to Russian law, and hosted and participated in many symposium on Russian law. Dean Gao expressed his expectation that all Chinese and Russian dignitaries of this forum could make more friends, enhance academic exchange and expand the cooperation. A/Prof. Yuan Yi had a further discussion with several Russian law professors on the meeting.
This forum was the first significant symposium on legal education issues between deans of law schools in China and Russia. It was divided into four sessions including history review on China-Russia legal education, challenges in China-Russia legal education, mutual study from China-Russia legal education experiences and prospect on the cooperation on China-Russia legal education. The forum promoted the in-depth communication on China-Russia legal education, boosted the connection between the research and practice in two countries’ legal education and provided the scholars with a valuable platform to legal education exchange.
