Wang Zhihua's Russian translation of Civil Code of PRC publishes

The Russian version of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China, leading complied by Professor Wang Zhihua from the China-Russia Law Institute of the College, was published and distributed in Russia by the Russian Проспект press in late April.



The translation was based on the Civil Code of China, which was approved on 28 May 2020 and came into effect on 1 January 2021. It has 1,260 articles in 7 sections, each of which in turn is the general provisions, property rights, contracts, personality rights, marriage and family, inheritance, tort liability and by-laws.

In addition, the translators proposed sub-headings for the articles so that the readers could understand the meaning of the articles. At the same time, the translators also referred to the Constitution of the People's Republic of China, the Legislation Law of the People’s Republic of China and other existing laws in the process of translation. The publication of this translation is helpful for legal persons in Russian-speaking areas to understand and familiarise themselves with the Chinese civil code and spread the voice of the rule of law in China.


The translation was published by a famous Russian publishing house. Founded in 1994, the Проспект press publishes books on law, economics, philosophy, literature and history, mainly on law. It is recognised as one of the most famous law book publishers in Russia. Previously, the Russian version of the second edition of the Personal Status Law, co-translated by Professor Wang Zhihua and Yerbahayev was also published by the Проспект press.
