The College of Comparative Law held its New Year Gala of 2020 in the Multi-Function Hall for Retired Faculty on Xueyuanlu Campus on the evening of 27 Dec, 2019.
The heads of the college, faculty members and students joined in the celebration. A/Prof. Zhai Yuanjian, Student Tutor Yang Mingquan, student Li Ruochen and Wang Ning hosted the party.
Before the performance began, videos from the class of 2019 and other overseas students were shown. The students expressed their wishes and expectations for the new year of the college with happy smiles. Subsequently, the opening dance Boys on New Treasure Island, performed by four students including Li Minqing and Zhao Na, ignited the atmosphere instantly.
Next, Dean of the College Xie Zhiyong gave a speech at the gala. He summed up the fruitful achievements of the College of Comparative Law since its 10th anniversary with deep feeling. Following Xie's speech, the audience review the year 2019, which was a year of striving for progress, also looked forward to the upcoming 2020. After that, the 2020 New Year Gala of the College officially began.
The gala lasted nearly three hours and consisted of three chapters, Thistle Gate Memory, Living Up to the Times and Dream as a Horse. It included dancing, piano playing, guitar playing, guzheng playing and singing, a total of 13 programmes.
In the first chapter, there were melodious song solo Que Sera Sera and original Beijing opera Wujiapo. There were affectionate duet Roof by special guests from Beijing University of Foreign Studies and children's song Dream It Possible by Ding Ziyu (child of one teaching faculty member). The integration of Chinese and Western culture presented a wonderful audio-visual feast.
In the second chapter, Li Wenyu' piano solo Claudine brought the audience great joy. Then, the creative recitation Self-Help Guide for Spring Festival told a story about the helplessness of young people returning home during the spring festival, which carried the audience along.
In the last chapter, Ding Ziyu, Xie Yijia and other children and students of the college had a lot of fun participating in the game "Animal Squatting" and "Heart to heart". The performers also invited Xie Yijia to dance "Tractor Dance" together with them. The lively and lovely performance won the audience's cheers.
The evening ended with Prof. Wang Zhihua and student Li Ruochen leading the chorus, all teachers and students singing "My Motherland and I".
