A/Prof. Zhu Mingzhe from the College was invited to attend the 16th Annual Conference of the European China Law Studies Association (ECLS) hosted by the Faculty of Law of University of Copenhagen and gave a speech in Denmark on 21-23 Sept, 2022.
The conference was hosted by the Faculty of Law of University of Copenhagen and the European China Law Studies Association, and organised by CUPL and other institutes and universities. More than 260 participants and 140 speakers registered for the conference.
The conference had in-depth discussions on such topics as the Legal Aspects of China-EU Relations, China's Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Economic Governance and China's Climate Change and the Biodiversity Protection Law in the Global Context. Zhu Mingzhe shared his views on the relationship between environmental justice and policy in China in his speech the Ecological Civilizer in the Anthropocene: The Role of Chinese Environmental Justice in Policy Implementation on 22 September. He introduced judicial innovation and its theoretical significance in the context of China's ecological civilization from three aspects, the application of non-legally binding policies in environmental justice, the entry of scientific professional opinions into environmental justice and the non-judicial functions of judges. His report aroused intense interest and discussion among international peers. The next day, Zhu chaired a panel discussion on the Environmental Adjudication and Climate Change Litigation, and fully exchanged with foreign scholars.
Since its founding in 2006, the European China Law Studies Association (ECLS) has become a major international venue for scholars and practitioners who are engaged in the study of Chinese law, from both comparative and interdisciplinary perspectives. The Association currently counts about 300 members from all over the world, who are committed to advance the research on Chinese law. The annual conferences of ECLS are leading international academic events for the exchange of information omega replica and ideas on Chinese law, as well as platforms for the initiation of research collaboration.
