CCL holds Orientation Week for new students

The College of Comparative held a series of events for Orientation Week to welcome year 2015 entering graduate students from 5-8 September, 2016.

 

The College arranged class temporary conveners meeting, Term Opening Ceremony, Orientation Day and visiting students' accommodation for fully helping newly-enrolled students settling in.

The whole crew of College leadership, teaching and administrative faculty, year 2 student representatives and all 2015 entering students attended the Orientation Day on the afternoon of 7 September. Secretary of the Party Branch & Associate Dean Wang Fang moderated the meeting.

 

Dean Gao Xiang first presented a welcome remarks. Then Lecturer Zhu Mingzhe, year 2014 entering student Xu Jianbo shared their experiences on teaching and studying at the College. Representative of new students Jing Nanheng talked about his feelings since entered the College.

Later, students and teaching faculty belonging to different institutes held an informal talk separately, allowing the students to be more familiar with teaching, supervising and foreign exchange settings at the College.

Associate Dean Wang Fang, administrative staff Liu Ming and Yang Mingquan further talked about modules choosing, training scheme, supervisor choosing and exchange programs for students on the morning of 8 September. They also gave a presentation on the issues that new students care the most, such as scholarship application and student union election.

Later in the evening, the College also held a student meeting especially for the new students to exchange with the year 2 and 3 students on studying, internship and work orientation.

During the week’s interaction, new students had a close communication opportunity with the tutors and coursemates.
