In order to better understand the European integration, expand cooperation with the EU, and enhance the University's cross-subject research ability on Europe, the China University of Political Science and Law announced to establish its Europe Research Center on 25 Nov, 2014. Vice-President Prof. Zhang Baosheng of CUPL was appointed to be the Honourary Director and Prof. Zhang Tong from the College of Comparative Law was appointed as the Director of the Center. The research team included more than 20 scholars from 8 faculties of the University, who are experienced in studies of European law, economics, politics and the nationality law of particular member state of the EU.  

The Center held its opening ceremony & working meeting on the morning of 15 Jan, 2015. Vice-President Prof. Zhang Baosheng and other 17 research members attended this event. Director Prof. Zhang Tong moderated the meeting.

Prof. Zhang Tong first introduced the general situation of University's past studies on Europe, especially the achievement of the China-EU European Research Center Program and the Jean Monnet Programme. She then explained the aim and tasks of the Center.

Prof. Zhang Baosheng put forward the goals and requirements of Center's work, emphasizing that effort in Sino-Europe High-Level Cultural Exchange Dialogue Mechanism and applying for more EU programs are needed. He later awarded the official appointment letter to all center members.

Research team members Prof. Fei Anling, Prof. Jia Wenhua, Prof. Zhang Shujing and Prof.Wang Zhihua also provided their suggestions on the development of the center during the working meeting.
