Professor Gao Xiang from the College, as the Executive Chairman of the Commercial Law and Practice Commission of the China Chamber of International Commerce (ICC China), attended the Autumn Work Meeting of the Commercial Law and Practice Commission (CLP Commission) of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) online on the evening of 14 Oct, 2021 China Standard Time.
The meeting was moderated by the CLP Commission Chair Ercüment Erdem and brought together more than 60 international business experts from China, US, France and India. More than 10 Chinese experts including General Manager of Legal Department of Xiaomi Group Liu Zhen, Senior Manager of Standardization Department of Alibaba Group Wang Lin, Senior Director of Guangzhou Development Bank Li Xi, Associate Professor of Faculty of Economics of Beijing Technology and Business University Li Shimin, Partner of Deheng Law Firm Peng Xianwei and staff from the Secretary Bureau of the ICC China attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on the global promotion of Incoterms® 2020, cooperation between the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) and ICC, and work related to the ICC model start-up contract.
At the meeting, Gao Xiang introduced the ICC China’s practice to promote I Incoterms® 2020, which was fully recognized by the headquarters of ICC. According to Gao, after the English version of Incoterms® 2020 was released, ICC China moved quickly to complete the introduction, translation and bilingual publication of Incoterms® 2020, organized a series of training sessions on the latest changes and practical application of Incoterms® 2020, and organized the preparation and publication of the comprehensive interpretation and legal guide of Incoterms® 2020. He suggested that all national committees should actively share their experiences in promoting the practice of international commercial rules in order to provide rule-based safeguards for the smooth conduct of international trade.
