Symposium of Newest Developments of the Europe Contract Law and Its References in Enacting Chinese Civil Law held

The Symposium of the Newest Developments of the Europe Contract Law and Its References in Enacting Chinese Civil Law was held on Xueyuanlu Campus on 1 Nov, 2016.

The conference was co-sponsored by two programs, the Sino-EU Law School research program and Jeane Monnet Programme, moderating by Director of the Institute of European Law Prof. Zhang Tong of College of Comparative Law of CUPL. Over 30 scholars from the Europe and Beijing and 10 postgraduate comparative law students attended the conference.

Dignitaries from the European side included former Law School of University of Minster Prof. Reiner Schulze, Executive Deputy Dean of Law School of University of Augsburg Prof. Thomas Moellers, Former Judge of Minster Court Dr. Dorothee Schulze and Prof. Andre Janssen from Law School of Honkong City University. The domestic side was represented by Professor of the Institute of Law & Director of the EU Law Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Prof. Sun Xianzhong, Dean of Law School of Tsinghua University Prof. Shen Weixing, and Director of Research Center of Comparative Law and European Law of Law School of Tsinghua University.  

The conference focused on topics of features of the content, format and implementation approach of the European contract laws’ coordination and unification, latest legislation, judicial practice and development tendency,and review of China’s contract law theory and judicial practice. It aimed to provide the improvement of China’s contract law and the enacting of civil codewith practical foreign experience.
