The College Labour Union and College Faculty Party branch jointly held a Spring Festival Gathering on the coming of Chinese New Year on the afternoon of 24 Dec, 2020. The whole of college faculty gathered together to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new. The meeting was moderated by the Chairman of the College Labour Union Che Hu.
At the beginning of the gathering, the College held a simple and warm retirement ceremony for retired teachers and a welcome ceremony for new faculty members. The ceremony was presided over by Dean Xie Zhiyong. Prof. Liu Jingwei, who just retired this term, and Jiang Fengan, Ye Chen, Zhao Yingnan and Zhou Fangzheng, newly appointed teachers, participated in the ceremony.
At the retirement ceremony, Xie Zhiyong expressed heartfelt thanks and good wishes to Prof. Liu Jingwei and other retired teachers. He hoped Prof. Liu continue to play his part in the training of talents and scientific research. Chair of College Council Wang Fang said that she had worked with Prof. Liu for many years, and Liu had always worked diligently. She thanked Liu for his contribution to the development and construction of the College. Liu Jingwei expressed his gratitude to the College for its concern and care for him, and to all the leaders and colleagues for their help and support. He was pleased to witness the development and achievements of the College, and put forward pertinent suggestions and high hopes for the future development of the College.
At the welcome ceremony for new teachers, Xie Zhiyong introduced Dr. Zhao Yingnan, Ye Chen and Jiang Fengan to the faculty. The three of them also expressed their excitement about coming to the College and looked forward to their future achievements at the College and in their professional arena.
After that, the Spring Festival Gathering officially began. Faculty members from each institute, the Editorial Office of the Journal of Comparative Law and the College Administrative Office spoke one by one, reviewing the year 2020 with their own experiences and talking about their efforts and gains during the year. They shared new insights on life and work after the outbreak, and wished that in 2021 the outbreak could be stopped and they would have a more positive attitude towards meeting challenges and contributing to the development of the College.
